Product Description

Meet the Stonefly Bass, handcrafted by Stuart Spector at the Esopus Workshop in Mount Tremper, NY !
Esopus Guitars is proud to announce the new bass guitar design from the mind and hands of legendary bass luthier Stuart Spector. Handcrafted by Stuart at the Esopus workshop located in the Catskill Mountains, the Stonefly bass features a comfortable body (15.5″ lower body bout width, 2.15″ body thickness measuring from the peak of the carved top) that delivers plenty of New York attitude for all your low-end needs. From its fully carved spruce top (the top is carved on both its exterior and interior surfaces) with a thumb rest that is elegantly carved into the top, to its super hard Carnauba wax finish, every detail of the Stonefly has been expertly planned and executed to deliver the tones you want – whether you’re playing with your band or at home.

Each Stonefly bass is hand signed and numbered on the back of the peghead by Stuart Spector.

FAQ: Why Fully Chambered Basses?

For over 45 years, Stuart handcrafted award-winning solid body basses and guitars that are loved and played worldwide. However, instead of resting on his laurels and continuing to produce solid body basses, Stuart decided to embark on a new instrument-making adventure by learning all the necessary skills to produce high-end, handcrafted deeply resonant instruments.

A very limited number of Stonefly basses are crafted by hand in the Esopus workshop.

For ultimate control of your tone the bass also includes the Fishman Platinum Pro Acoustic pre-amp pedal.

Boost Function

The Fishman Platinum Pro EQ/DI Preamp is a highly useful piece of kit, and when activating the boost footswitch you can increase your volume by 3-9dB. The LED above the footswitch lights up when the boost function is activated. You can use this boost function for added impact during solos or main riffs. You can achieve up to 12dB of volume boost foot switch with level control for a highly controllable boost experience. There is also a balanced XLR DI with pre/post EQ settings and ground lift and an integrated fully-chromatic tuner, so you don’t have to worry about falling out of tune every time you play.

Intuitive controls

The Fishman Platinum Pro EQ/DI Preamp is fully loaded with a five-band tone control, which includes a mid-sweep and low frequency filter. This 17-volt, high-headroom, discrete class-A preamp also comes equipped with an EQ mode which is a tailored EQ for not only bass but most other instruments. The phase control knob and precision notch filter helps to reduce feedback for a more refined performance. What’s more, the one-knob adjustable compressor smooths out your playing dynamics, helping you find your own unique voice.
