The Alpha·Omega Ultra is the most versatile bass preamplifier we’ve designed: With its two distinct distortion circuits (Alpha and Omega), extremely high dynamic range, six-band active graphic EQ, dedicated headphone output and balanced direct output with switchable digital impulse-response cabinet emulation make for an incredibly complete tool for the modern bass player.
Utilizing the desktop version of the Darkglass Suite allows you to load one of the available impulses responses of our library or add you custom / third party impulses to use with your pedal. In addition you can control the headphones level output.
Tonal dominance
Tones, tones, and… more tones. Darkglass pedals tend to be the go-to for seasoned bassists – and it’s easy to see why. Their quality is always of the highest standard, and this preamp is no exception. With the Alpha/Omega Mod dial, you can throw as much of the two premium distortions into your mix as you desire, with a dedicated drive knob for additional sonic control. Level and Blend knobs also let you control the intensity and fullness of the preamp effect, so you can really fine-tune your tone. There’s also world-class IR cab emulation for exceptional sonic quality.
And then there’s the big daddy – a huge six band EQ. Using this, you can really dig into the detail or your bass tone and make it truly perfect. It’ll let you embolden your low end, emphasise the mids, and make those highs soar. Additional Bite and Growl buttons let you instantly add some (you guessed it) bite or growl to your sound for a sound which will bring the walls down. It’s hard to believe you can evolve your sound so much with such a compact, intuitive preamp.
Convenient extras
The Alpha Omega Ultra isn’t your bog-standard preamp – it goes above and beyond. For starters, there’s a dedicated headphone output, so you can whack your headphones in and play in complete silence. And there’s a balanced direct output for sending your signal straight to the PA or recording desk. All this combined with Bypass and Distortion footswitches and a sturdy chassis makes for the ultimate bass preamp pedal – experience bass like never before.

Mod
Selects or mixes between the two distinct distortion circuits: Alpha is punchy, tight with a lot of definition, whereas Omega is simply brutal and raw. On the Darkglass Suite you can assign footswitch control of the Mod to toggle between Alpha and Omega.
Blend
Mixes the clean and processed signals. The clean signal remains at unity gain while the volume of the overdriven signal is set by the Level knob, allowing for fine mix tuning.
Level
Sets the volume of the overdriven signal.
Drive
Sets the amount of gain in the overdriven signal.
Growl
Shelving Bass Boost for a fatter tone and increased low end saturation.
Bite
Boosts High Mids (2.8kHz) for additional presence and definition.
Master
Whereas the Level knob control the output of the overdrive section the Master volume adjusts the overall volume of the unit. Ideal for fine tuning the output on clean mode. It also serves as a DI and headphone volume control. Please note that volume is not affected by this control when the pedal is on bypass.

Warning
When the pedal is on bypass the master volume does not affect the headphone volume. In this case the total volume is adjustable in Darkglass Suite. With sensitive headphones, the bypass volume can be very loud if not adjusted.
The Alpha·Omega Ultra has a current draw of 120mA. Only use a regulated 9V DC adapter with a center-negative plug.
Unregulated power supplies and/or higher voltages may result in suboptimal noise performance and even damage your unit, voiding the warranty.
