The complete comment, “Heavy lows, distinct upper mids, and round top that’s cool for finger style rock, blues, and country. (And ’70s-style funk.) Broken-in vibe that’s fun to play. On tape, pickups have big bottom for a J, although the tone can get a bit thick.”

- Type 2 – clear acoustic sound with lower output than Type 1.
- Type 3, Alnico 2 – dark pleasent distortion sound
- Type 4 – Type 1 pickup for fretless, tappers, and harmonic players. This pickup is a closed cover design (no exposed pole pieces).
- Type 4A – Type 1 pickup with four 1/4″OD pole pieces. The pickup has a narrower field than the Type 4, but has exposed pole pieces.
- Mexican J Bass 4 Replacement The infamous pole piece pickup. The neck & bridge are identical!! Shorter and wider then the standard neck pickup, standard covers do not fit!!! The replacement pickup is designed to fit into the existing cover. New covers are not available through Aero.
