High Quality Construction

For the body on this bass, ESP opted to use a slimline variant of the traditional P-Bass shape, crafted from alder with two cutaways that allow easy access across the whole fingerboard.

Bolted on to the body you'll find a fast-playing Maple neck, carved with a Thin "U" profile shape that allows you to play at even breakneck speeds with relative ease.

Sitting atop the neck is a smooth Ebony fingerboard, with 21 Xtra Jumbo frets, that perfectly matches the all-black aesthetics of the instrument.

What's A 5-String Bass?

Bass guitars usually come equipped with 4 strings as standard, however you occasionally come across a 5 or even 6-stringed bass (anything more than that is just showing off).

In this case we have a 5-stringed bass, which features a Low B as the thickest string, as opposed to the usual E. This extra string gives you even more notes to play around with, and is suitable for almost any musical style.

Powerful Electronics

With it's PJ-style pickup configuration, the LTD AP-5 bass is capable of an incredible array of rocking bass tones.

The EMG P-5 split coil pickup produces that instantly recognisable voice, with a thunderous low end, punchy mids, and articulate highs.

Sitting in the bridge position you'll find an EMG LJ-5 single coil pickup, adding a smooth and tight sound, with a bright tone and that characteristically warm "honk".

Both of these pickups are specially voiced to work with the lower frequencies produced by the instrument's Low B string.

You can use each pickup independently, or a mixture of both together, thanks to the Balance control knob, whilst the Volume and Tone controls let you fine-tune your sound.
