The NXT Series Double Bass opens up a new horizon for the serious bassist looking to play a great instrument on a limited budget. These new instruments, crafted in the Czech Republic by the makers of the renowned CR Series, exemplify flawless workmanship at an incredible value.
Pizzicato and arco techniques have almost unlimited expressive potential, thanks to the Polar™ Pickup System (SEE BELOW). A convenient switch allows selection of the traditional arco mode for percussive attack and dynamic bowed response, or pizzicato mode for a smooth, sustained tone. Equipped with single volume and tone controls, the passive electronics deliver unlimited overhead for the ultimate sound without cumbersome batteries.
The solid maple body and neck, together with the graduated ebony fingerboard, deliver a rich, full tone that rings true for every note. Asymmetrical fingerboard relief facilitates an even 'growl' from the higher strings and a clear, powerful lower register. The adjustable bridge and truss rod allow for low, fast action, or for higher string settings that encourage the traditional acoustic player to 'dig in' with gusto.
NS Electric Strings and most traditional acoustic strings fit all NS Double Basses, allowing the player to select from a wide range, each with a unique sound a feel. In combination with the easy adjustment of basic set-up parameters, the NXT Series Bass is adaptable to many different styles of music.
A wide array of interchangeable support systems make the NXT Double Bass adaptable to virtually any situation. Standard equipment includes a self-supporting tripod stand with full adjustments for height and angle. A more traditional end pin stand is available, as well as shoulder strap options that allow for full mobility.

The NXT bass brings world-class design and craftsmanship to a surprisingly affordable price range. With a visual appearance as striking as its sound, the roadworthy NXT is an exciting and reliable partner for the most demanding performance career.

Polar Pickup System
As a player, you may not think about the direction your strings are vibrating, or even be aware that string vibrations on a musical instrument are polarised in relation to the fingerboard and the motion of the plectrum and bow. Yet direction is one of the most significant factors influencing the tone and response of a stringed instrument. In fact, instruments from the violin family are different from the lute or guitar in large part due to the effects of string polarisation.
The bow drives the string back and forth in the direction of the bow, while at the same time it suppresses the up and down vibration. You can see this effect with the naked eye by watching the wide excursion of the lowest strings when bowed. From the front, you can see a wide lateral pattern of string vibration, but looking from the side you can see almost no pattern at all. Instruments in the violin family have a tall bridge in combination with an asymmetrical support structure of bass bar and sound post that efficiently translate the sideways motion of the bowed string into sound.
The Polar pickup responds with a high degree of lateral sensitivity and vertical rejection that is tailored to mirror the polarity of the bowed string. The result is a remarkably dynamic, rich tone that responds effortlessly to the bow.
The Polar pickup takes this concept one step further, and is able to switch from lateral to vertical sensitivity, which is ideal for pizzicato. Unlike the violin, a flattop guitar or lute respond in the vertical direction, to minimise the plucked attack and store energy for longer sustain. With the touch of a finger, the polar pickup can switch from lateral to vertical mode. In the vertical mode the attack is controlled for a sustained, singing pizzicato response. The lateral mode has the opposite effect, and the plucked response is extraordinarily percussive, like a traditional bowed instrument, only more so. This dual capacity allows the player to control attack and decay, adding new expressive potential to the violin family of instruments.

Boomerang STRAP

The secret of the Boomerang Strap is that the instrument can be rotated into place without moving the strap itself. With the strap over the shoulder like a guitar, the arms adjust to a comfortable position against waist and hips. The player can now move the instrument into the ideal playing position without changing the position of the strap; vertical, horizontal, or anywhere in between, with the fingerboard and strings tilting in toward the body or away, the strap system still remains in place, firm and comfortable against the body. The result is freedom of expression with unprecedented comfort for bow and pizzicato styles of play.
The Boomerang system fits all models of the Omni Bass, NS Double Bass, and NS Cello. The strap system screws into the same mounting insert that is used to for the & Stands so that all three support systems are easily interchanged.
Strapp
Lightweight frame design has triangulated body contact points to provide a high degree of stability and comfort.
Convenient height and angle adjustments allow players to accommodate personal styles of play. In addition to the vertical position, the neck can be angled horizontally like a guitar for picking and strumming.
A single wing nut secures the instrument in place for fast set-up and breakdown. The strap system fits both cello and double bass.
Virtually all traditional playing techniques are possible, including thumb position. The instrument neck is tilted back and close to the shoulder, but the body angles out, away from the body for excellent bow access across the full arc of play. This angle also helps traditional cello and bass pizzicato technique to sound and feel natural.

Mark
Just wanted to say thanks for the great service in getting me the NXT 5 string. The bass arrived as promised on Thursday in A1 condition. Having had a chance to play it over the last week, it really is a great instrument. Very well finished and a great natural tone. The amplified bowed and pizzicato sounds are excellent. I'm still getting familiar with the instrument and having been playing double bass for over 25 years its amazing how reliant you are on the physical features of the double bass for intonation and navigation around the fingerboard. With no heel of the neck or body to guide you it does mean a lot more concentration. Thumb position is a lot easier though without the body and with the added benefit of the intonation markers - some might think this is cheating!
Anyway, thanks once again and I'll have no hesitation in recommending your business to other bass playing colleagues.
